I Know of one small family r/t me which consisted of Alexander (aka Leander; aka Bud) Dorer (or Dover) Swain or Swaine or Swaim.... married in Marion Co. IL 21 Mar 1877 to Lucy Ann Beasley b. 1854 Marion Co., IL. They had a son: Owen (possibly O. Emitt or Emitt O.) b. 27 Dec 1877. (This information came to me from my late grandmother who was a niece of Lucy Beasley). From the internet I found that Leander purchased 40 acres in Haines Township, Marion Co. IL 28 Dec 1885. I haven't seen the deed, but I did find the record of it (Sorry, just got there before closing that week). On that the writer recorded his name as Alexander Swain. In following message board "leads", I have come to suspect my g,g-uncle "Bud" may have been a son to a Volney Swaim and his first wife, Alice Dover. They may have come from IN. My Owen "Swaim(?)" may have married an Anna Wilderman and moved to Sesser, IL (early 1900's). I cannot find cemetery records for Lucy Ann Beasley Swain (or Swaim); Alexander or Leander Swain or Swaim; Owen or Emitt..... well, you have the idea. I hope to cross reference the land deed with grantors records to see when they may have sold the 40 acres of Marion Co. Thanks for any help.
