Query Text: |
Hello, My maiden name is Rosenbaum. I am wondering if Rosenbaum was nearly always a Jewish name, because my Dad says he has traced our genealogy back to Europe and he says there were no Jews in our genealogy. I find that hard to believe. I live in Danville, Ky. and we were brought up in Kentucky. As far back as my great-grandfather, there were no practicing Jews that I am aware of. Since I am 52, this means that back to at least about 1880, there seemed to be no practicing Jews in our line. We have been in the U.S. since then. But, if being Jewish is part of my heritage, I would like to know. Is there any of you who can shed light on whether Rosenbaum is nearly always a Jewish name, or could it be from a German, yet protestant background? I want to know if I am Jewish, but don't know how to proceed. Thanks for your help! Nancy Rosenbaum Jones, at nanjojones@aol.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
