I was born in Nicaragua and have been trying to trace our ancestry. So far I know that my great grand father lived in Granada, Nicaragua and died there. His name in Spanish was Juan McNally (John McNally) and it is believed by some and confirmed by others that he was Irish. I figure that during the time (my estimates) during the 1860 to 1890 he used the shortcut to travel to California thru River Saint John, The Lake of Nicaragua and the stretch of land to land in the Pacific side and then up north to travel as they did during that time.
