Query Text: |
William Haggard married Rosanna Nowell 2 February 1788 in Lincoln County, KY, and they later moved to TN. When his brother John Haggard and John's wife were killed by Indians in 1792, William became the guardian of John's children Edmund, Elizabeth, John, and Samuel (not necessarily the order of birth). In the early 1800s William lived in Stewart County, TN, and was active in community life there. It was while William was living in Stewart County, TN, that his son Nowell was killed in the War of 1812. At least one researcher says that William who married Rosanna Nowell died in Clarksville, Montgomery County, TN, about 1823. The 1830 census of Pickens County, AL, shows a William Haggard about the age of the William who married Rosanna Nowell and who lived in Stewart County, TN. Circumstantial evidence indicates that these Williams were one and the same. Would like to find the answers to the following questions: When did Rosanna Nowell die and where is she buried? Who were her parents? Did William marry Sarah Pace after Rosanna Nowell's death? If so, where and when? If the theory regarding William is correct, what migration path did he take between Stewart County, TN, and Pickens County, AL, and who was the William Haggard who died in Montgomery County, TN? Answers to these questions are critical in resolving a dead-end to my Haggard line. Any help would be appreciated. Jewel Gibson | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
