Seeking information on WILLIAM V. KEESE, born about 1834 in Ohio. Wife of William was SARAH JANE COOLEY, also born Ohio. Following information found in Lebanon, St. Clair County, IL: 1881 St. Clair County History shows W. V. Keese as a miller and prop. custom mills. Born in Ohio and settled in St. Clair County in 1866. Wife, Sarah Cooley born in Ohio. The St. Clair Flouring Mill was built by W. V. Keese & Son, in 1880, at a cost of about $10,000. It is a frame building, three stories high, and contains three run of burrs, with a capacity of 50 barrels per day. The Star Fancy brand of flour of their manufacture is equal to that made by any of the larger mills, and finds ready market at home and in St. Louis. (St. Clair County History - Lebanon Precinct) Lebanon Journal - Friday, March 18, 1881 - W. V. Keese has sold his mill and residence to Peter Kullman of Summerfield for $4,750 cash. Mr. Kullman will move in town and continue the milling business. We are glad that Mr. Keese does not contemplate moving away, but will sink a coal shaft, if he meets with suitable encouragement. He is one of our wide-awake businessmen full of push and energy and will do all he can to make things lively in Lebanon. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
