My grandfather was Walter Benjamin (W.B.) ADAMS. He was born in Alabama(possibly Dothan) in 1856 or 1857. Went to Texas at about the age of 16. Lived in Devine,TX where eventually he owned the Adams National Bank, a mercantile store, a creamery, several farms (mostly cotton)and more. He was married to Mae Crawford(my grandmother) and after Mae's death, to Elizabeth(Lizzy)Cook. My mother Frances(Fanny)Adams was one of three children who lived past childhood: her brother Walter and her step brother Temple. My mother married Ellis Franklin Gates MD (son of Alexander Franklin Gates and Mary Ann Hethcock) from Lytle,TX in Sept of 1909. My uncle, Walter, was a cotton broker and lived in El Paso TX. He had one child Juliette. My step uncle Temple married Sherrill Cook and they lived all of their lives in Devine TX and had one son Thomas(Tom)Adams. W.B. died in San Antonio at the age of 49 in 1906. Buried in Devine. We have much information about him but we find no information about his parents in Alabama. We don't know their names, when born or when died. Hopefully we have a connection out there reading this query that we are not aware of. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
