Query Text: |
SMITH - AKERS - FIELDEN - MASSEY - LAURIE Rhode Island, USA My relative Martha Ann AKERS and husband James Henry Akers emigrated from Lancashire in 1899 to America with their daughter, Sophia, born in 1896. Martha’s maiden name was SMITH, born in 1872 in Accrington to William and Mary; James was born in 1869 to William and Frances Esther Bendorffe. They lived in Warwick, R. I., and James was a pattern card maker (from the 1900 U.S. Census) and died in 1907. Then Martha Akers married Thomas FIELDEN in Attleborough in 1910. Thomas worked in a bleachery and already had a son John, who was born around 1892, and they lived in Mineral Spring Avenue, Pawtucket, by the 1910 U.S. Census and until at least 1920. Martha had married a Mr ? MASSEY by 1930, then a William LAURIE sometime before her death in 1950 aged 76. Martha’s daughter Sophia married an Edward Joseph HACKETT. They had a son who died and a daughter, Doris Hackett, who died in 2005. She had been a nurse, did not marry, lived in the Fairlawn section of Pawtucket for many years and had a cousins including a James Carr. Would be very grateful for any further information on their lives or families in America. Any information from relatives, friends or neighbours, etc. thanks. | |||||||||||||||||||||
