Looking for Hartness of North Carolina. Some in Iredell County, but I can't find before mid 1700s. Very possibly related with Cherokee or Catawba Nation. Mary Ila Hartness married Robert Hoover in Statesville (??) or nearby in 1928. One daughter, Margaret Alice Hoover (b.1930), married Robert Warren Sweet (b 1927/28 in PA)and had 6 children (one was me). Sweet's and Garner's were from NY/PA area, moved to Tyler Texas in early 1800s (??) possibly fleeing legal troubles. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
