Query Text: |
John Wellington Deignan was in the US ARMY in 1870 in Plattsburgh Barracks in New York, was discharged because of consumption, left New York and went to Illinois, married my ggrandmother Julia Osborn in Bloomington in 1874, then moved to Stuart, Iowa, where he passed away in 1882 during the Grinnell cyclone, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a conductor. He is buried in Stuart, but cannot find out just where he was born. Military papers say Dublin, Ireland, 1880 census says Maine, his daughter's marriage record says he was born in Connecticut. Can anyone help me get correct information. His father could have been named Duignan. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
