Her mother was Pearl Gharrett and father was Melvin Dawson. Pearl's father was Rev A.Q. Gharrett. A.Q.'s sister was Francis and married Floyd Twombley. Elnora's sisters were Ola Dawson and Estelyne, and both lived in IA. Elnora gave up her baby for adoption in 1923.
