Query Text: |
I have been researching the story of Hannah Lightfoot for almost thirty years. Hannah married Isaac Axford on the 11th December, 1753. Shortly afterwards she disappeared and Isaac, we are told, never saw his wife again. Rumour has it that Hannah was taken into the care of George III and that they later married and had children. Certificates purporting to be marriage certificates and a Will were scientifically tested in 2002 and were shown to confirm that they were forgeries. Whatever the truth, we still do not know what happened to Hannah. We don't know where and when she died and where she is buried. During the course of my research I came across a grave of a person called Ann Axford who was buried in Great Cheverell in February, 1758. There is nothing to indicate who this person was. No age is given and there is no relationship with any other person. There is no sign of a gravestone so we cannot judge from the size of the grave if it belonged to a child or an adult. I gather there are several Ann Axfords that could be buried in this location but I am trying to discover whether this grave could contain the mortal remains of Hannah. Isaac is known to have lived in Great Cheverell with his second wife as some of their children are buried in the churchyard. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
