AXFORD : LIGHTFOOT | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
Having been interested in the story of Hannah Lightfoot - who married Isaac Axford - for many years I was intrigued to hear from a Cecil Axford that the Axford family had been involved in an earlier royal liaison. It seems that Elijah Axford was the grocer to Charles I. This king had a dark skinned mistress who had a child by him. When the king tired of this lady she married Elijah Axford. It seems that this story has been mentioned in books. Does anyone else know anything about it? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
