I have been searching for over three years searching for the parents, and county of birth of my 2 x Gt Grandfather ELIAS DEITRICH. I am beginning a systematic search of the eastern counties of Pennsylvania, and can not find him in Northampton and Berks County. I am now focusing on COLUMBIA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA. From his headstone information, he was born circa Feb 12, 1816 in Pennsylvania. He migrated from Pennsylvania into Ohio, and the first record I have of him is about 1838 in Ashland/Richland County, Ohio where his first son, Levi was born. ELIAS DEITRICH was married to a Lucy Ann (Payne?). The next record of him I can find is when he then moved into Defiance County, Ohio in the 1840s. I have his life pretty well documented from this point on, with his children, deaths, residence, and occupation. He was one of the founders of a German Dunkard Church in Defiance County, so possibly his parents has an affiliation with the Dunkards also. He died Sept. 19, 1884 in Defiance County, Ohio. Could anyone possibly try to see if any birth or baptism record or will record in COLUMBIA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA for him in Feb, 1816? Any help is really appreciated. Thank you....Frank Deitrich
