Query Text:

Trying to place Lucretia Bryant Dyer with parents and siblings. Here is what I have: Lucretia Bryant was born abt 1795 in NC and died after 1840 Lincoln Co.TN census. She married Ahasuerus Hazer Dyer on 12/22/1810,in Sumner County, TN (close to Christian Co.KY where Hazer was from and where they lived for several years). William Gwin was the bondsman. By 1820 they are living in Montgomery County, TN (county next to Sumner and still close to Christian Co.KY) along with a woman who was older than 45. Hazer's mother was already deceased, so perhaps this was Lucretia's mother??? Hazer and Lucretia divorced in 1821 after Hazer claimed she had committed adultery. In the petition, he stated that she was living in Lincoln co.TN. Lincoln County is NOT close to Sumner or Montgomery County. Considering it was 1821 and her being recently divorced or in the process with at least 6 children, I find it hard to believe she would have moved to a town where she had no family. What I have recently discovered: There were several Bryant/Briant families listed on the 1820-1850 Lincoln Co.TN census. One in particular was George Gray Bryant Sr(1796). He named his youngest daughter, who was born about 1842, Lucretia- perhaps after his sister, my Lucretia???. In addition, when Lucretia and Hazer married in 1810, another Bryant family also resided in Sumner County, TN: William and his wife Elizabeth Bryant. William died in 1818 of Black Scurry. His wife was a widow on the 1820 Sumner Co., TN census. Another possible link to Lucretia is that William Bryant of Sumner Co.,entered into some sort of business indenture in Sumner Co. with Edward Gwinn in 1818. Remember that a William Gwinn was the bondsman at Lucretia and Hazer's marriage. Finally, a woman named Charlotte Bryant married James Reasons on April 11, 1804, in Sumner Co., TN. I am not sure how she may be related, but I am almost certain there must be some sort of connection. Any help, suggestions, connections, would be very appreciative Rachel (rae)
