I'm looking for the ancestors of Ruhamah Bean, born 1775 in Peacham Vermont. She was married to Captain Isaiah Drew, born 1777 in New Hampshire, and she had several children. Ruhamah and Isaiah were married in Ontario Canada, and they are listed, with their children, in the records of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. The minister who recorded their names was Reverend John Bethune. According to my research, Ruhamah's father is listed as Elisha Bean. I've since researched this name and found two possibilities for an Elisha Bean who lived in the area and is about the right age to be Ruhamah's father. The parents of one Elisha Bean are Jeremiah Bean and Sarah Blake from Rockingham New Hampshire. Another is the son of James Bean and Lydia Hoag, who also lived in this area. James and Jeremiah were probably related since they lived in the same area and immigrated from the same area in Scotland: Strathdearn, Inverness, Scotland. I want to prove that Ruhamah has Scottish roots, and I believe the research I've gleaned up to this point seems to support this conclusion. If anyone has any definitive proof of the connection between Ruhamah Bean and one of these Elisha Beans that I've mentioned, please contact me at ibsarah@hotmail.com Thank you for your kind attention. Please help me in my quest to uncover this mystery! God bless, Sarah Crist. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
