I'm looking to make clear the connection between Thurlby, Tait and Gidday/Giddey/Giddy. My Thurlby line is: Grice Wade Thurlby (b. Bicker, England ca. Oct, 1818, parents John and Susanna Grice Thurlby / died probably Union County, Iowa) married to unknown, fathered Alfred Thurlby / married second time to Harriet Sevenoaks Jul 9, 1852 Wayne County, MI. Grice Wade Thurlby and Harriet Sevenoaks had two children, Florence Wade Thurlby and Harry Hatton Thurlby. Alfred Thurlby, son of Grice Wade Thurlby and his first wife, fought in the Civil War with Co. B, 2nd MI Infantry and was wounded in action. He married in 1863 to Elizabeth Tait (b. July 27, 1837 Alnwick, Eng). The couple lived in Adams Two, Houghton County, MI according to the 1870 census. They had two children, Millie Grace and Albert R. Millie Grace married George Freeman and this is my line of descent. ****Albert R. is listed in the 1910 Census record for Stowe Twp, Allegheny County, PA along with his wife, Mary E., son, Harold A. (aged 18) and a Grace Giddey (aged 67, born in England) who is listed as widowed. ****Albert R.'s sister Millie Grace Thurlby (later to be Freeman) had a sweet 16 party for which I have the newsclip (source and date unknown) which states that among the guests was "Miss Minnie Gidday, a cousin of Detroit." ****Albert R. Thurlby's mother, Elizabeth M. (Tait) Thurlby's obituary states that she had a sister, Mrs. Giddy, of Pittsburgh. Presumably Mrs. Giddy of Pittsburgh was a Tait. Possibly Mrs. Grace Giddey could also be this person? Also possibly Miss Minnie Gidday of Detroit could have been Mrs. Giddy's child? I'm trying to ascertain who the two or possibly three persons named Giddy/Giddey/Gidday are in order to see if they are in the Tait lineage. Have not really explored the Tait lineage yet but this is a start. Thanks, if you can help. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
