Query Text:

I am seeking information about my wife's g grandparents Robert ROBSON and Stella Martha Annie FISHER and their parents. RR was born in South Shields, England on 23 January 1865 and died 29 August 1953. SMAF was born on 18 December 1871 in Nottingham, her family moved to India when she was 12. RR and SMAF were married on 1 Jan 1890 in Poona. (I can't find her in the 1881 British census so don't know where she was before India but I have pictures, dates unknown, of her parents in Dublin.) She died on 18 January 1908, 2 days after their 5th child was born. I have pictures of SMAF in various locations in England, India and Burma with her children, which seem to imply she travelled to and from England many times after she was married. Two of her with a baby (Stella) when only few months old are taken in Gateshead and in Quetta (where Stella was born) in India. Looking at the pictures, the baby is more or less the same age in both. Pictures imply that they moved around in S.E. Asia: India - Quetta, Poona, Lucknow and Burma - Mhow. Their first four children were born in SE Asia: Quetta (Stella Annie 18 Feb 1891), Mhow (Frank Robert 28 Apr 1894), Poona (Edith 13 Dec 1897) and Wellington (Arthur John 30 Jan 1901). Their fifth Martha Annie was born in Darlington, England (16 Jan 1908). RR remarried to the children's nurse Ethel Annie Hull (born 15 February 1887, St Helens Auckland, England) and they had 3 children all born in Darlington: Dorothy (17 Mar 1910), Marjorie (17 Feb 1912 and Betty (14 Jan 1920). RR retired from the army, for the first time, in 1907 as a RSM. However he served in 1914 to 1919 with the rank of captain, 1939-1942 and 1947 both as a major. He was still serving when he died. RR had a sister Jay or married to a JAY and she had a daughter Stella who married a HULL though this could be HALL with them living in the Hull area. SMAF's father was John FISHER who served in the Durham Light Infantry and was at one point a colour sergeant. On retirement he ran (owned?) a pub in Bishop Auckland near a police station.
