Hi, My grandfather's grandfather is Peter Antonio. He registered his name as Peter Antonio but family members have added Candido Damora. I have not found evidence from anyone as to why or if that is correct. Which makes his last name uncertain. I do have his New Zealand naturalisation papers saying he was born in Cape de Verde. We have his parents being Joseph King Candido and Maryanne Cecila. I am trying to find whether we have correct information. The family story is that he stowed away as young as possibly 13 on a whaling ship and jumped ship in New Zealand where he married and stayed. Does anyone have information on this family line?
