Looking for cousins of THOMAS FOX and ANN ARGYLE. Thomas was possibly born in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, England. He may have been the son of John Fox and Lydia Limb of Eastwood. Their son Thomas was christened in Eastwood on 13 March 1820. Thomas married in Duffield, Derbyshire on 16 July 1844, Ann Argyle (Agile) of Heage, Debyshire, the daughter of Erasmus Argyle and Phoebe Newton. She was born circa 1821. Their first son, SAMUEL FOX, was born in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire on 18 August 1845 and christened 28 September 1845 in Ripley, Derbyshire. They had an older daughter, ALICE FOX (PERKINS OWENS) who was born 5 February 1843, almost a year and half before they married. I am unsure as to whether she was Thomas's daughter by an earlier marriage, or an illegitimate daughter of Ann's. Thomas and Ann had at least three other children: DAVID FOX, born 18 November 1848, location unknown; JOSEPH FOX, born 12 April 1851, christened Eastwood, 4 January 1852, died 16 January 1854 possibly in Eastwood; and WILLIAM FOX, born 24 March 1856 possibly in Eastwood, christened 1856 in Eastwood. The family immigrated to Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States of America in 1862. Thomas died shortly after their arrival, sometime betwenn 1865 and 1870. Two of the sons, Samuel and William, moved to Illinois in the 1870s. Samuel died in November 1919 in Macoupin County, Illinois and William died 1918 in Grundy County, Illinois. David Fox (my great-great gandfather) died in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania in 1891 after being injured in a coal mining accident. Daughter Alice married twice, first to Henry Perkins (died 1870 in a mining accident in LaSalle County, Illinois) and second to John Rodgers (died after 1880 in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania). Thomas Fox may have had a bother named ENOCH FOX, who was a shoemaker in Eastwood. Enoch had the following children: ENOCH J. FOX; LYDIA FOX married a PARKER resided in Nottingham; SARAH FOX, died 22 September 1932, buried Basford Cemetery in Notingham, England; JOHN FOX, died at age 16; DAUGHTER FOX, probably the daughter who settled in Australia. The younger Enoch J. Fox immigrated to Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland in about 1892. He was a nurse. His daughter REGINA FOX lived in the family home in Towson until the early 1980s. Although we knew we were cousins, we were never able to determine exactly how we were cousins. Other brothers and sister of Thomas Fox may include: Catherine Fox (ch. 8 Feb 1807 Eastwood), married Thomas Carlin; John Fox (5 March - 25 April 1808, Eastwood); Hannah Fox (ch. 12 July 1809, Eastwood); Elizabeth Fox (15 Nov. 1811 - 9 January 1814, Eastwood); Joseph Fox (4 Sept. 1814, Eastwood); Elizabeth Fox (10 September 1815, Eastwood); William Fox (29 March - 3 June 1818, Eastwood). Any information would be appreciated! I have lots of data to share concerning descendants in Pennsylvania and Illinois, United States. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
