Looking for information on a John Paxton born 1825-1838ish (depending on the different censuses I've found) in West Virginia. He apprenticed for 5 years in becoming a stone mason. His father before him was a stone mason, who possibly emigrated from Germany. My John Paxton married in 1855(Isabella Falls)in Greeneville,Tennessee, moved to DeKalb County,Alabama during the Civil war, moved on to Champaign County, Illinois following the war for a few years doing masonry work there, till he finally homesteaded in Pawnee County, Kansas, in 1870 where he lived till he died about 1905. He's burind in Larned. During his life he was a spy for the Union, a stone mason, a rancher and raised horses. Any thing ringing a bell with other geneaologists searching PAXTONS please drop me a line. Am trying to find a clue as to who his parents were and when they entered this country and from where. Thanks. Jan | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
