I am searching for a record of my ancestor, Johannes Jekel or variations of the Jekel name. He was born about 1735, probably in what is now Hessen, Germany. He migrated to Russia, the Volga Area in 1765-66. He is supposed to have lived in an area called the Riedesel Barony before moving to Russia. The area was also called "Riedesel zu Eisenbach and the area today may be in Gemeinde Ludwigsau, Hessen, Germany. He was of Lutheran faith.
