Searching for the birth parents of my great-grandfather and his siblings. He was born Cicero Egbert Lane on Oct 5, 1890 in Howe(Grayson County)Texas. He had 2 natural sisters Maude Pearl Lane b. Nov. 22, 1887 d. Oct. 31, 1970 Other sister Nora...no info. Cicero Egbert was raised by W.P. Abernathy in Anna (Collin County), Texas. He assumed their last name and went by Bert Abernathy, which is what is on his WWI Civilian Draft Registration and also on his death certificate. I will be searching the census records for that area, but have not done so yet. The photo attached is of Bert and my great-grandmother Maggie Irene Huebsch. Maggie lived to the ripe old age of 25 when she died of Typhoid Fever. My grandfather was 8 years old and he and his brother and 3 sisters were raised by Maggie's parents. I am told that Bert's mother also died at an early age due to some sort of illness and that this is why Bert went to live with the Abernathy family. The photo below is Bert on the far left with Maggie and my grandfather is the little boy up front with his sister. The other people in the photo are the W.P.
