My gg-grandfather John Ward of Irish descent was in Tippecanoe Indiana around 1836. I found out recently that John was from Ohio. There John met his wife who was from Indiana, wife's name unknown.Around 1844 , a son, Thomas, was born. There were other children. One sister, possibly named Nellie, and Lydia.Maybe other brothers. The family moved from Indiana as near as I can figure out and where they settled I don't know. Thomas was in the Dakotas during the Indiana Wars around the late 1860's. He also was in California and finished coming by wagon train to Washington state around 1870's I believe. He met Carrie Emma Scoggin Phlug and married her and was step-father to her children,Ada,Charles, and another step-son Jesse, who died at 8 years ,and is buried at Pataha Flat Cemetary,Washington State,Garfield County. Thomas Ward and Carrie had Fredrick Earnest Ward as their one and only child. In Thomas's obituary it mentions him crossing the plains 7 times. It also mentions that Thomas was in the Indian Wars as Quarter Master.Thomas died in Pomeroy,Washington in 1917. I am trying to link up with cousins who may be in California, possibly Oregon, and when and if they settled anywhere in between. I know this is sketchy but this is about all I know.Any suggestions is appreciated. Judy Ward Donley | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
