I am searching for any information of the name Polusczczuk (spelling?) in the area that used to be called Cielaz, Sokal, Poland (or Galicia). I am trying to trace back my ancestors. I believe they would have been in that region from the late 1800s until WW2; not sure any descendants are left. One of their children was named Melania and emmigrated to the US in the early 1900s. In the US her name was changed at Ellis Island to Mollie and she married an Albert Tenerowicz in New York, NY. She had a brothers in Poland named Semon, Thomas and Micheal and a sister Anna (married Paul Mieal) and Irene Holowka, who had 2 daughters. Her mother's name was Helen (maiden name: Dzaba or Dzoba) and her father's name was Miron or Martin Polucszczuk (not sure of spelling). They lived on a small farm; had cows and were Roman Catholic. One of her brothers was in the military. Her father was a choirmaster at the local catholic church. One of her sisters was sent to Siberia during WW2. She never heard from any of them after WW2 and assumed they were all deceased. It is VERY difficult to find any information, so thank you in advance to anyone who can offer any clues. | |||||||||||||||||||||
