From Corpus Christi Caller Wednesday Morning August 30, 1939 FREER WOMAN SHOT TO DEATH AT AUTO CAMP Man Jailed as Rangers join in Probe of Mrs. Good's Death. Freer, Texas -- Mrs. O.B. Goode about 47, died here at abourt 3:30 o'clock Tuesday morning of gunshot wounds, officers reported. J.B. Shaw, sheriff, placed a man under arrest about 30 minutes after Mrs. Goode's death. The man made no statement, it was reported. Joe Bridge, Texas ranger, was called from Hebbronville to aid in investigation of the case. Officers who arrived shortly after Mrs. Goode was shot found her lying in bed. The Goode home is on the east side of Freer. It was reported that officers found a hole in the screen near the bed. A 45 calibre bullet entered the left sideof Mrs. Goode's body near herheart and passed out through her back. The gun was not located. Mrs. Goode's husband. O. B. Goode is a Freer tourist camp operator. This woman Margurett Bell Sandefur Goddie was my grandmother. She had a twin (I think a brother). Thanks dianapumpkin@juno.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
