My son was born on September 29th, 1982 at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal QC. I was 17 years old. Dr.Kamal Maraghi was my OBGYN and arranged for the private adoption through Batshaw youth services in Westmount, QC. The social worker's name at Batshaw was Dominica Labassi. I was told that the adoptive parents had been on a waiting list for ~7yrs to adopt a baby, one of the adoptive parents was from Australia the other from Egypt. Both had professional careers. I was admitted to the hospital on the night of Tuesday September 28th and my son Christopher was born between 3 and 4 AM on the morning of the 29th of September 1982, healthy 9 Lbs 8 Oz with a full head of dark brown/black hair. He developed a slight case of jaundice which resolved within a day or so. I was allowed to stay with him until Saturday October 2, 1982. Christopher was adopted on Thursday September 30th, 1982 and left the hospital on Sunday October 3rd, 1982 in the afternoon after his adoptive Grandmother had flown in from Australia. I requested and was allowed, a few days later, to send a letter through Ms. Dominica Labassi from Batshaw youth services to the adoptive parents. To my great surprise and gratefulness I received a letter from Christopher's adoptive mother with photographs of my son in his crib in his new home, again via Ms. Dominica Labassi. The letter assured me that "when of age", Christopher would be told of his adoption. It also said that his name had been changed, however I was never allowed to know what his new name was. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, this letter along with his precious pictures were discovered by my parents in my room. They destroyed them immediately. | |||||||||||||||||||||
