Additional information has come to my attention as to the McDonnell family of Garristown, Dublin County. They emmigrated to Chicago, USA. Jane died 15 March 1883(age 45)and James died 05 January 1890/91 (age 60). They had sons named Peter, James, and three others, Philip, John and Mathew, who were priests. A sister was called Mother Angela, a nun of the Carmelite Order. Another sister married Peter McCabe who had a son Joseph, who was a priest, and three daughters who were members of the Sisters of Mercy. Fr. McCabe is reported to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean 32 times. The family had its own golf course and swimming pool, quite remarkable for the times. Fr. Joseph McCabe is reported to have often visited Chicago. I would appreciate any information about these families in Ireland. May 19, 2003. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
