I am hoping that someone can assist me in finding information regarding: Adam Lafayette ALLISON b. May 1831 in NC Mary Frances [nee HATCH] ALLISON b. Abt. 1832 in MS 04 January 1860 they were married in Copiah County, MS. This family lived in Hazelhurst, MS before the Civil War, where Adam was the publisher of a newspaper and, according to the 1860 Copiah Co. Census, Mary Frances' occupation was listed as a "printer". Adams younger brother, Franklin ALLISON was living with them. On 13 May 1862 Adam ALLISON, enlisted at Jackson, MS as a private in Pettis Light Artillery. He was mustered in on 3 April 1862, and served in the Confederate Army until the end of the war, 1865. The next reference I have found for them is the 1880 United States Census Mississippi, Pike Co., Summit A. L. ALLISON, age 49; occupation machinist. Mary S. ALLISON; age 48; occupation music teacher Sydney BUTLER; age 12; at school; nephew to head of household; father's birthplace MS, mother's birthplace NC. [This is obviously a son of Adam's sister, but at this point I don't have a name for her.] In 1904 Adam filed an "Application of Indigent Soldier or Sailor of the Late Confederacy." He gave his residence as Summit, Pike Co, MS. The above is all of the information I have been able to find. I don't know when they died, if they had children [in Adam's pension application he states that he has no children, and his only living relative is a widowed sister, whose name he does not give].
