Query Text:

Searching for an adoptee born at Duke University Hospital in Durham, Durham Co, NC., circa July 15, 1968. Adoptee is male, African-American, and weighed a little more than 7lbs. at birth. The name on the original Birth Certificate is Percy LaVon S*s. At the time of birth the mother was 12 years old and had been sexually abused since age seven by a step-parent. The birth mother was unaware of her rights under emancipation, and of the full consequence of the adoption. However, the mother realized her inablity to bear the responsibility to provide a decent life for her son, and wanting the best for him - did not protest the adoption. The mother lived in a Durham area Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers during the end of the pregnancy - which is believed to have since closed. The adoption was handled by the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina Department of Social Services. Should the adoptee desire, the birth mother is comfortable with as much contact as her birth son is willing to have. The birth mother seeks information on health and well-being, and any personal life her son is willing to share.
