Searching for an adoptee born at Duke University Hospital in Durham, Durham Co, NC., circa July 15, 1968. Adoptee is male, African American, weighed a little more than 7lbs. at birth, and was named Percy LaVon Scales by the birth mother. At the time of birth the mother was a traumatized 12 year old who had been sexually abused for years, who was unaware of her rights or the full consequence of the adoption, but realized her inablity to bear the responsibility to provide a decent life. The adoption was perhaps handled by the Durham Co. DSS. The mother lived in a Durham area Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers - which is believed to have since closed. The birth mother is comfortable with as much contact as her birth son is willing to have.
