I am looking for my birth mother, whose name in 1963 was Sandra Owings. I was born at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC on May 30, 1963. Two days ago, the woman who handled my adoption, Ellen Marks Smith, called me and told me she had located a picture of my birth mother, which she then sent to me. She told me the woman's name was Sandra (Sandy) Owings. She thought Sandy attended SMU in Texas, and that her family owned a phamacy in Minnesota (but that it could have been another large college in Texas) in the early 1960's. I told Ellen peopls had mentioned that a person named Owens had a baby on 5/30/63, and Ellen said that my mother could have used a different name, but she had no idea. She seems convinced it was Owings. Ellen said that this was a Direct Adoption and that it was handled legitmately through Social Services. She has since told me that she things my father's last name was Messina, that he was a football player at the same school Sandy went to, and that his family owned restaurants in Texas. | |||||||||||||||||||||
