UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! Family found! Thank you so much! The grandmother's name turns out to be Zeta Mae and she is deceased, but I got my medical history and possibly will have contact with other family members soon. Thank you all for your help. You were such a blessing to me, especially C.G. who found the true information on who the family is. You can see below how much was wrong. Zeta's name had been misspelled in the records and the last name of the man she married was Faria, not Faira. THANK YOU, ~Caylan Looking for mother of Richard Smith, adopted name George Charles Weight Jr by Chief of Police George C Weight and Ruth Weight in Salinas, CA in 1945. Also looking for a possible sister who would be a little older. Ruth Weight said she had been asked to adopt both children, but just did not feel at her advanced age that she could raise 2 young children. Found written records kept by adoptive father. mother's maiden name was Zela Mae Smith or Zola Mae Smith. She resided at 556 Market. That was most likely in Salinas, CA. This would have been in 1945 There is a note after that. It says Mother later married to M. Wm. Faira, 416 Front St. Phone 3793. Faira working at Crystal Theater. Mrs Faira working at Sams Creamery. "Jimmy", as he was called, was adopted after being brought to the Weight's by police woman May Eisemann, according to stories related by Ruth Weight. Mrs. Eisemann and Mrs. Weight are both deceased. It is believed "Jimmy's" mother visited him until he was around 2 years of age, was young and possibly of Jewish decent. I am "Jimmy's" only biological child and would like to find his biological family. Any help that could be given would be appreciated. Thank you. To see pictures of "Jimmy" (his stage name was Jimmy Valves) you can go to www.myspace.com/caylanh I had been told that the mother visited "Jimmy" for the first two years, bringing gifts, but was acting like she might want him back. This scared Ruth, the adoptive mother, and so George, the adoptive father, took the mother to court supposedly in San Francisco to get all parental ties to "Jimmy" severed. The Weight's moved away from Salinas in 1950. | |||||||||||||||||||||
