I am in search of my birth mother and father. I am a 38yr old native american female who is affliated with the Leech Lake Reservation in MN.I was born on May 19, 1974 in Deer River, MN. I was living from foster home to grandma's home until I was 2 n a half, when I was adopted. I also know that my birth name was Julie. The foster home that I was staying in was in Minneapolis in which my older brother was also placed. I also know that my mother had stated that my father had passed away six months prior to my birth. I also know that my mother is an enrollee of Leech Lake Reservation and fathers side of the family is from the Lake Superior Band. I was also told that once I was put up for adoption my older brother was returned to my grandmother or mother. I have been so lost and I believe it is because I have no guidance in the native traditions, I am just seeking out my family to get back to my heritage and so I can guide my children. |
