Posting for a friend who I am helping search for her birth mother. This is what we know: Mother's date of birth: 08/22/1941 Was baptized Brethren in PA Is of American/Irish/Dutch heritage, had a 10th grade education. Worked in a shirt factory in PA, then for the phone company. In 1963 was working at McCrory's Five and Dime (Either DC or VA, not sure) There is apparently another female child born in 1960, as well as a brother, that were children of this woman. Father: Was in the US Navy, separated from his wife. Born about 1939 (age was 23 at time of birth) Child is female, born 1/24/1963 at George Washington University Hospital in D.C. Placed into foster care in Arlington County, VA 2/1/1963. Parental rights of birth mother signed off 3/29/1963 also in Arlington County VA Adoptive family's surname is Harris My friend has gotten a copy of her adoption papers from VA, but due to the laws for adoptions prior to 94, any identifying information is blacked out.
