I am lookinf for my mother's birth parents. She was born as Bettie Jean Camp on Feb. 28, 1937 in Meghar Hospital in Miller Co. Garland, Texas. Her birth mother is listed as Laraine or Leraine Camp. We believe she was 14 at the time she gave birth, which leads us to believe she was born around 1923. The birth certificate says "Illegitimate'. She was adopted in 1938 in Bowie County Texas by Thomas Harrell Jordan and his wifte Mollie. In the adoption paperwork it says the mother's name was Loriane Camp Cargile and in the same document she is listed as Lillie Loraine Cargile. It mentions that she was married to a Ralph Cargile who was the father and that he was killed in an auto accident in El Dorado, Arkansas on Sept. 7, 1936. In the paperwork it calls my mom Bettie Jean Cargile and alludes that she was born legitimately. I honestly don't believe the marriage and auto accident part of the paperwork. We know Loraine's father (my mom's biological grandfather) worked on the Texas Pacific Railroad with the adopted father Thomas Jordan, they were friends. My mom had red hair. My mother is known as Betty now. | |||||||||||||||||||||
