Looking for information on 2 Rueben Gifford's,one the father & one the son. Rueben Sr. was born prob. 1765 in Duchess Co. New York,U.S.A. to Joshua & Elizabeth (Wilcox)Gifford. He migrated to Stanbridge,Quebec with his brother Pardon.He then went to Milton,Vermont,U.S.A. where he bought land in 1789 with his brother in law Robert Gage.He later sold this land in 1810 and returned to Stanbridge,Quebec. He is last found in the Milton,Vermont census in 1800 and doesn't appear in the next census of 1810 so he must have gone back to Quebec by then. I don't have a name for his wife.Rueben Gifford Jr. is reported to have been born in Canada according to U.S. census and may have been born in Stanbridge. His birth date was September 15, 1812. He died in Milton,VT October 30, 1894. He is buried there next to his wife Maria (Van) Guilder.They were my 3rd greatgrandparents.It'S imparative that I find out about these 2 Rueben's and where I can find documents on them in order to confirm that there were in fact 2 different but related individuals. My acceptance into the Mayflower Descendants Society hinges solely on these Rueben Giffords.I'm also looking for Lewanways (Francis) who came from Quebec ? to Milton,VT in either the late 1700's or early to mid 1800's.
