Looking for information about my great great grandfather, John Benjamin Anderson. The 1850 and 1860 US Census show him living in Rubicon as a 24 and 34 year old (by 1870 he and his family had moved to Iowa). I have a copy of his September 1848 marriage certificate to Caroline Rickard. The "History of Rubicon" says that "John Anderson is credited with building the first log house in the village vicinity in Section 14 in 1845. Mr. Anderson eventually owned land in both Sections 14 and 15." Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate any information about his parents or siblings from marriage or death documents. I would appreciate any suggestions of where else I could look. If anyone knows of land records that may indicate where he came from or family information, I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. The 1850 US Census also shows a James Anderson (age 60) living in Fairfield - perhaps there is a link?? Thanks for any recommendations you may have.
