Per the death certificate of Giles Monroe, his Father was Moses Monroe, born in "Old States" and his Mother was Sarah Monroe, born in "Old States". Giles Monroe was born as a slave in 1853 in the Fayette/Gonzales County area in Texas. He married Pinkie Franks on March 25, 1880 in Lavaca County, Texas. Children of Giles and Pinkie Franks Monroe were: Eddie (Ed) Monroe, Boyce Monroe, Harry Monroe, Henry Monroe, Odies Monroe, Sammie Monroe and Jessie Monroe. Ed Monroe married Miss Zora Allen and had a son named Dudley Giles Monroe. Giles Monroe's death certificate was signed by Mrs. Callie Monroe Caldwell. On the 1920 Lavaca County, Texas US Census Records, Mrs Callie Monroe Caldwell lived next door to Mr. Harry Monroe, in Yoakum, Texas. Giles Monroe died in 1927 in Westoff, DeWitt County, Texas. He is buried in Sweet Home, Lavaca County, Texas.
