Vilfritz Simien was born in 1848 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. His parent's were George Simien, Jr., born in 1812, and Geneviene Guillory Simien, born in 1818. Vilfritz Simien's Grandfather was George Simien, Sr., the son of Antoine Simien, of Marseille, St. Jean, France and Marie Simien, a freed slave in Lousiana. Mr. Vilfritz Simien married Miss Marie (Mary) Eulalie Blanco. In later years, Vilfritz was known by "Wilford". Wilford and Mary had a son named John Batiste Simien who was married at one time to Grace Elizabeth Horst in Austin, Texas. John and Grace Simien had one daughter, Miss Eddie Loraine Simien.
