My g-g-grandfather was named John H. Patterson (I don't know his middle name). He was born 1819 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and died September 22, 1893. He married Susan Rowland (daughter of Pleasant Rowland) on April 16, 1845. He was a farmer in the Ragland District of Granville County, North Carolina and served in the Confederate Army. John & Susan's Children: Mary b. 1846 James Pleasant b. 1849 - d. 1924 (my g-grandfather) Susan b. 1850 Edwin b. 1852 George b. 1854 John b. 1857 His son James Pleasant Patterson (b. January 23, 1849) was my g-grandfather. He married Amanda F. Fleming. Their son Zebulon Vance Patterson (my grandfather) married Minnie Hayes Puckett. I would be very appreciative if you would please check your research to see if you have anything on this family. John may have had a brother named George Harris Patterson, but I'm not positive.
