Notes for William Brehm I: 1. Died in a train accident at age 86 in Hastings, NE. See below. 2. Someone gave me the death date of October 10, 1900. But the newspaper has another date. 3. Listed in the 1880 census of Clay Co, NE. They are also listed on the 1885 census as: WM 72 Cathrine 71 4. Wednesday August 8, 1900 Hastings, NE newspaper Dead man identified Body found near Grafton that of Wm. Brehm of this city. The body of a man found near Grafton yesterday morning beside the B. & M. tracks has been identified as that of Wm. Brehm, uncle of John Brehm, the shoemaker, and father-in-law of Fred Yost. The deceased was past eighty years of age and has been living with his daughter Mrs. Yost. Monday he took a notion he wanted to go to Sutton to visit relatives. He went to the B & M deport in the afternoon and boarded No. 5 west bound passenger, but was only carried to the Western limits of the city when he was put off. He came back to the depot and when the Red Cloud train came in he went into the coach and was found there by the depot employees patiently waiting for the train to start. They transferred him to No 80 and sent him on his way to Sutton. It is supposed he was carried past that station and in trying to get off the train met his death. note: Fred Yost is married to Williams daughter, Catherine Brehm. John Brehm - I don't know which John Brehm this is. Maybe the son of William's brother Peter. More About William Brehm I: Comment 1: Nicholas Brehm's Grandfather.
