I am trying to find the location of a farm belonging to my gtgrandmother's grandparents. It was in Mississippi County, Arkansas. The post office was Frenchman's Bayou. She spent a lot of her youth with them. Their names were E.P. and Mariah Jane Bunch Williams. They grew cotton and she talked about picking cotton and a lot of local happenings. They settled orriginally in Memphis and were there during the Civil War. Her grandfather built a cabin in Arkansas sometime during the 1860's. They were permanently in Ark. by 1877, when she began writing her diary and telling about what was going on around her. Her mother lived in SW Kentucky with her second husband Frederick Kieser. Her father died just after the war. Keiser had Ark connections also. I was in Osceola last summer and researched the William's family. I believe I found some relevant information. I believe her mother had two brothers - Jim Williams and W. R. Williams. I found info regarding W.R. Williams. It did not mention his father's name, but did mention his grandfather's. This could clear up confusing references to my gtgrandmother's grandfater. I have a picture of an old house, with people milling around that refers to an upstairs room as being grandfather's law office. I believe she was refering to her grandfather's father. I also have some glasses that she refers to as belonging to grandfather "Squire Williams". She said he owned "Hopefield Plantation". I believe she is refering to her gtgtgrandfather. My gtgrandmothers name was Mariah Emily Hannah Luten. Her mothers name was Elizabeth Ann Williams Hannah Keiser. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
