In 1766 Wuerzburg was a Bishopric (Small principality, and kalstadt a small town in the Bishoprics. The Pfeifers Sources: From the church records of Pfeifer, Russia by Igor archivist, from Engels Russia and from the 1798 census of Pfeifer Russia obtained from AHSGR in Lincoln, Nebraska. Igor wrote: Johannes Pfeifer was one of the first settlers in the colony Pfeifer. He migrated to colony Pfeifer in Russia on June 15, 1767. Greed Catholic, profession – farmer. Adam Pfeifer, grandson of Johannes crossed over to colony Herzog in 1828 with his family and his stepmother Katrina. He was the first Pfeifer in colony Herzog. Michael and Theresa Pfeifer came to the USA on the steamship Mosel in 1876 and settled in Victoria, Kansas. The archives in Russia show that Johannes came from Ulm, Baden-Wertemburg, Germany. Church records of Pfeifer, Russia and the 1798 census of Pfeifer and Herzog Russia. Igor wrote: Johannes was one of the first settlers of Pfeifer, Russia. Johannes’ grandson Adam moved to Herzog in 1828. Michael Pfeifer 1828 was a brother to Anna Catherine Pfeifer who married Johannes Braun. Michael is the great-great grandfather of Lawrence A. Weigel. The archives in Russia show that Johannes Pfeifer (1739) came from ULM, Baden-Wuertemburg, Germany, 1767.
