Philip ENGHERT/ENGERT/ENGARD immigrated thru Philadelphia in 1728 on the Ship Mortonhouse. On the ship with him was George BECTHEL who is said to possibly be a "brother-in-law" to Philip. Settling first in Salford, then Upper Dublin, he and his wife, Catherine Elizabeth _____, raised a family of seven boys and three girls to adulthood. Those children were: Philip, Jacob, John, Henry, Adam, Peter, William, Anna Barbara CUPP, Elizabeth BECKER, & Mary EMICH. It is not known at this time Philip's village of origin. However, we do have some "clues". An apparent cousin, Adam ENGARD, immigrated to Phila area in 1773 from Rossdorf, near Darmstadt. Also on the Ship Britannia was Conrad EMICH who married Philip's daughter, Mary. Conrad's sister, Anna Barbara, was married to Nicholas ENGARD. They were living in Rossdorf, near Darmstadt, when their son Nicholas ENGARD immigrated to America and settled around Upper Dublin/Philadelphia area in 1832. We would appreciate any help with finding Philip's village. I would very much like to travel to Germany with the "village" as my main interest. Gerre Engard Byrd | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
