My uncle was Pvt. Herbert Eggers 16320452 Med.Co. 19th Inf. Regt. A.p.o.24 Unit 2 He was killed in the Korean War. The last letter my family recieved from him was dated June 2nd, 1950. In the letter he says that He met a Japanese woman named Jeannie and that she was his wife. She was 16 and pregnant with his child. On the letter is written Beppu Japan. He says that they live in a Japanese house and the name of the house is Soen Hiyakson. We also found a letter addressed to Herberts mother written by Jeannie. It says: Dear Mother, I want to thank you for giving your consent for us to be married. I can call you mother now. You made Herbie and me very happy. I can't think of anything else to write so I'll close for now. Your daughter, Jeannie There was no return address. My grandmother(Wini Stewart) died shortly after her son (my uncle) Herbie was killed. We have wondered for years where "Jeannie" and the baby are. We would love to be able to find her. She is the only link to Herbie that we have. My aunt ask me to help her try to find Jeannie. I have tried to contact our Army Recovery Captain and he has retired. (Captain Copenhaver U.S. total Army Personel Command 2461 Eisenhower Ave. Alexandria, VA 22331-0482 1-800-892-2490) I don't know where to look. I cannot find a directory online for Japan and I don't speak Japanese so I cannot do it over the phone. If you can help me I would be forever greatful. Thank you | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
