I know of a cemetery that is in bad need of repairs and needs cleaned and my father was buried in this cemetery a year ago and I told him that I would keep this cemetery clean and also there is a civil war veteran buried there. I also want to put up a sign saying that it is this cemetery. and also the person who owns this land does not want anyone else buried there. She does not like people going on her land even though it is a family cemetery. That my ancestors and direct family members are buried there. I don't mind going by what she wants, but I want to help perseve this cemetery. I live in the eastern panhandle of WV and this Cemetery is called the Midkiff family cemetery and it is in Kanawha county WV. With this Civil war Veteran being buried at the cemetery can the Kanawha county Genealogical Society step in and help me with this huge project. The cemetery is over run with schrubs and trees and it is just bascially in the middle of the woods and no one really knows that it is there, what can I do? The cemetery is really old and I called the kanawha county courthouse and they could not give me any informaiton without exact location. I called the courthouse because I'm not really sure if and how much of the cemetery she owns. I also need to know if this is going to cost me anything to help perserve this cemetery? I'm desperate. I really appreciate. I do have some pictures of the cemetery and also I have a copy of the civil war veteran that is buried there and I also have a short list of the people who are buried there, but I know that there are more of them. if you need any more information I can try to give you some.
