Query Text:

I am an adopted daughter of Jaren (Jerry) and Esther McNeil. I was born in at Beth Israel Hospital in Denver, CO on August 30, 1954. I know that my birth mother was a student at the University of Utah and came to Denver when she discovered she was pregnant. It is believed that her home town was Salem, UT. Her name was Norma Davis. She would have been between 18 and 22 years old at the time of my birth. I don't think she was older than 20, because it is believed she returned to school after my birth. It is believed that my birth father came to visit her in Denver and they discussed their options at that time. Prior to my birth, Norma resided at a "home for unwed mothers" in Jefferson County, CO (in what is now the city of Lakewood. She became friends with Jerry and Esther; they owned a diner near the home at that time. Jerry's brother, Art, who lived in Denver at that time, told me he knew her and that I look just like her. I heard from Jerry's daughter from a previous marriage, Marilyn, that Norma came to visit her mother (Frances/Toni)shortly after my birth and her return to Salt Lake City. Norma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as were my adoptive parents. I found out I was adopted at the age of 8. I never asked any questions. I really didn't care that I was adopted. After my adoptive mother's death, my sister (also adopted) and I found letters she had written to us telling us what she knew about our birth mothers. I also found the court decree of my adoption. I do believe that Mom wanted me to know about Norma and perhaps find her. I am eager to do so. While, there's not a great deal of information, I think some of the facts are very interesting and maybe secretive: Norma is LDS, my parents are LDS; Norma is from Utah, my father is from Utah; Norma came to Colorado and found my parents virtually right across the street - who were not able to have children of their own; Norma knew my father's first wife in Salt Lake City (or a suburb of Salt Lake). I did some research and found two Norma Davis born at about the right time in Utah - one near Salem, and one near Bountiful. I'm not sure if either is the woman I am trying to find. I am eager for any information and look forward to any responses
