HOPPE

Query Text:

Looking for any Carl Hoppe relatives who immigrated to the United States or stayed in Germany. Carl and wife Louise or Louisa came here in the late 1800's...I found their ship passage records on Ancestry.com. They brought 3 or 4 daughters, Louisa or Louise, Pauline and one unknown and one son, Fredrick (my grandfather). There were additional brothers left in Germany and they were believed to have possibly been in the Army there. Fred never talked to the family about his brothers or what their names were. I am not sure if he was afraid to or what. My great-grandfather, Carl falsified records that he was a blacksmith when in fact he had been a doctor in Germany. Apparently they would not have let him come here if they had known. They came through Ellis Island and settled in Alexandria, MN.
