Query Text:

My grandfather was born in Ballina, Co. Mayo - John Synnott (~1918). He was the eldest boy and when his father died whe he was approx 12 (Parents names unknown) he looked after his sister Mary (1917) and younger brother Michael (1920) along with his mother. He worked in the local chapel. He later became a nurse. Married Eithne McNeely, Crossmolina Mayo and moved to the North of Ireland (Gilford ~1950) and later had eleven children - one of whom is my father Martin. There are Synnott's (Nee in some cases) in America (NYC and Puerto Rico), England and scattered around Northern Ireland - one is a nun for Our Lady of Apostles, Rostrevor. The McNeely's (Parents names unknown) owned a tailors in Mayo and were reasonably well-off, had ten children Larry, Kathleen (Doggott), Claire, Andy, Eithne, Andy, Mary (Possibly Moyles) are the names of children I know of. Any help or advice would be great.
