I am looking for the families of Phineas Barnes GILBERT who died about 1840 in the Indiana area, and his wife Judah SHUMWAY. Judah (b. Oct 2, 1817, New York(?); d. Feb 16, 1868, Bartholomew Co., IN). Census shows Phineas was married to Judah in Bartholomew Co., IN on April 3, 1834. They had three children: Louisa 1835, Emily 1836, and Charles 1838. Phineas died (may have been murdered) and his wife remarried into the LIND family in 1849. She had three more children, one of whom she named Phineas after her deceased husband. Judah Shumway was the daughter of David Shumway (1773-1843) and Martha Larkin, who were married in May of 1826. I have information on the Shumway line going to back France in the early 1600's. Phineas was the son of Nathan Gilbert and Martha Wells. I have no information on them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
