My ggrandmother was Mary Ann HUDDY, from Co Cork or Clare, IRE, b. abt. 1860-70, d. December 1944, Columbus, Indiana. Some family members think she was born in Dublin. She came to the US around the turn of the century, as a late teen or early 20's unmarried woman. I have found two ship manifests that might match "my" Mary Ann HUDDY's transit from Ireland to the US. One is the "City of Chester" that departed from Liverpool and arrived in the US on Aug 20, 1892. The Mary Ann HUDDY aboard was 20, unmarried, from Galway, IRE. The other ship is "Teutonic," that sailed from Cork, arrived June 9, 1897. The Mary Ann HUDDY aboard was 18 and from Ballinrobe. Her marital status is not indicated. I do not know if either of these Mary Anns is "my" Mary Ann. Mary Ann had a male relative named Thomas living in Louisville, KY. She may have had a brother named James back in Ireland. When she arrived in the USA, Mary Ann worked as a maid to pay off her passage. Mary Ann HUDDY married Edmund O'GORMAN, born Co. Cork, IRE, d. Louisville, KY 1902. They lived either in Louisville, KY or Columbus, IN. They had relatives or friends of some sort named Burbinger or Burblinger in St. Louis, OH. They had four children that I know of: Mary Margaret O?Gorman(my grandmother) Edmund O?Gorman, Jr. Thomas O?Gorman Lillian O?Gorman Mary Ann?s daughter, Mary Margaret O'GORMAN b. Aug 30, 1900, Louisville, KY., m. Hovey Albert LIND around 1916-17. They had 8 children. Mary Margaret d. June 22, 1949, Columbus, IN One of their children was my mother, Mary Frances LIND.
